New Era of Online Crypto Casinos

I would say that I'm relatively new to Reddit and the one thing that surprised me is the number of people that still play on Bovada, Ignition, Betonline, MyBookie, etc. Don't get me wrong, great sites for sports betting and poker, but absolutely horrendous when it comes to slots and live casino games.
Hitting 1,000x on a slot on Bovada is like a once in a lifetime achievement and the live dealer provider is... awful.
Over the past month or so, I have seen this Reddit flooded with random users promoting a bunch of shitty no-name crypto casinos that have been around for like 3 days. So I figured it was my duty, as somebody who has no ownership interests in any of these online crypto casinos, to share my thoughts regarding the ones that I believe are trustworthy. All of which is based on first-hand experience and countless hours of research.
First off, for those who aren't familiar with crypto casinos, the one thing that you need to know, as an American, is that you'll need to access these sites via a VPN. Personally, I use ExpressVPN and connect to Canada (or various other regions depending on which slot provider is available). The nice thing about ExpressVPN is that you can download the app and play on your phone. All of the casinos listed below allow VPN usage. Apparently NordVPN is pretty good too, but I cannot vouch for them personally.
Second thing, KYC is not required. Honestly haven't looked into this too much, but I can tell you from first-hand experience that KYC is not required in order to register or withdraw funds. All you have to do is confirm your email address. Some people have said you get KYC'd if you try to withdraw more than $2k, but again, I can confirm that it's not true (specifically for the casinos listed below). Just make sure that you only deposit/withdraw via crypto and you'll be fine. If you think this is sketchy, then please, continue making your credit card deposits at Bovada to random shell companies based out of China.
Also, DO NOT USE COINBASE TO TRANSFER TO AND FROM THE CASINO. They banned me. It hurt. Don't make the same mistake. I recommend using BRD as an intermediary between Coinbase and the casino. Since being banned from Coinbase, I have been using crypto.com to buy and sell crypto. Nothing but good things to say thus far.
Finally, I have wagered roughly $3.5MM in total across the sites below and have spent countless hours researching them, so I'd like to think that I somewhat know what I'm talking about. In no way am I an expert and in no way am I a high roller or a whale. Just a regular guy that enjoys gambling.
Now the common theme amongst the below casinos is that you have access to game providers such as Evolution (live games), Pragmatic, NetEnt, Thunderkick, Push, etc. that you'll never find on the casinos advertised as available to US players (such as Bovada). As I'm sure you know, Betsoft slots can get old after a while.
Just a few of my personal favorite games that I recommend you check out...
Live Games: Crazy Time, Monopoly, Evolution Blackjack and Evolution Speed Baccarat
Slots: Dead or Alive 2, Money Train 2, Lil' Devil, Sweet Bonanza and The Dog House

Site #1: Roobet.com (Best for casual gamblers)
What I like: Instant withdrawals, huge selection of slots and live games, generous rakeback system, instant bitcoin deposits (they will credit your account before receiving any confirmations-- this is really nice), every so often they'll run a 24 hour promotion where if you hit 100x on slot betting at least $1 you'll be "King Roo" (basically King of the Hill) and accumulate ~$20 per minute until you're dethroned
What I don't like: Rakeback system only allows you to collect every 24 hrs/1 week/1 month, no clarity surrounding VIP status (assuming you need to be a whale), there was one instance where I won $36k on a $40 bet playing Reactoonz and was told I can only withdraw $10k per day (this was 6 months ago and never had an issue withdrawing since), lack of sports betting
My largest withdrawal (at once): $9.9k
Deposit/Withdrawal Methods: BTC, ETH
Referral link to enable rakeback system without having to wager a shitload: https://roobet.com/?ref=hkgambler13 (you can also use code "hkgambler13")

Site #2: Stake.com (Best for medium-high rollers)
What I like: Instant withdrawals, huge selection of slots and live games, incredible VIP and rakeback system (weekly/monthly bonuses, rakeback can be claimed whenever, daily/monthly challenges to earn extra cash), active and friendly chat community, multiple crytpo deposit options where your account is credited in that currency (meaning your balance equivalent in USD will swing with the market-- could be seen as a con), enjoyable "Stake Original" games that have a higher RTP than 3rd party slots, averages ~2k users online at any given time
What I don't like: Can be overwhelming for first time players (Roobet is much more straight forward and easy to use)
My largest withdrawal: $13.2k
Deposit/Withdrawal Methods: BTC, ETH, LTC, DOGE, BCH, XRP (highly recommend-- cheap transfer fee, if any at all, and confirmed within seconds), TRX, EOS
Referral link to instantly enable 10% rakeback: https://stake.com/?c=6c2f1c60

Site #3: Gamdom.com (Best for gamers)
What I like: Instant withdrawals, huge selection of slots and live games, newly implemented rakeback system, constant "rains" in the chat (which is free money if you join in time), ability to instantly deposit and withdraw via Rust and TF2 items (could spend an hour talking about this-- generally caters to those who cannot get crypto or have to use a CC to buy crypto), averages ~1.5k users online at any given time
What I don't like: Prior to the newly implemented rakeback system rains and level-up chests were the only "rakeback", your balance is denominated in coins (1500 coins = $1 USD), browsing through their slot selection can be a pain in the ass
My largest withdrawal (at once): $7.4k
Deposit/Withdrawal Methods: BTC, ETH, BCH, LTC
Referral link to receive a free chest that could be worth up to ~$53: https://gamdom.com/chase (you can also use code "chase")

Final parting words: PLEASE DO NOT GAMBLE WITH MONEY THAT YOU CANNOT AFFORD TO LOSE. Gambling is not a money making method and you will lose in the long run. The purpose of my post is to make those aware that other trustworthy online casinos are available for Americans that will (hopefully) make gambling online a bit more enjoyable!

Banning from International Sites

Hi everyone. I am new to this community and fairly new to Reddit as well. I love what you all are doing here. I do want to get some opinions though. About 6 months ago I put a lifetime ban on any casinos and online gambling in my state. That kept me from gambling for a solid 3-4 months. However, my addiction caught up to me and about a month ago I signed up for international sites like Bovada, MyBookie, and a few others. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can ban myself from these types of sites? Unfortunately these international ones don’t have any “Responsible Gaming” features. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

New Era of Crypto Casinos (for Americans) That Don't Actually Suck

I would say that I'm relatively new to reddit and the one thing that surprised me is the number of people that still play on Bovada, Ignition, Betonline, MyBookie, etc. Don't get me wrong, great sites for sports betting and poker, but absolutely horrendous when it comes to slots and live casino games.

Best Online Gambling Sites, Big List for Reddit

I thought I’d put together a quick list of the best online gambling sites for the Reddit community. Feel free to add to this list with any of the best ones that I might have missed. Let’s try and make this a go-to resource for anyone who fancies a flutter :)
Here’s my list:
Bovada - Easily the standout choice for sports betting in the U.S. Loads of lines offered, in-play betting available, plus casino and poker games. Great welcome bonus too and it’s a super reputable site.
Ignition - Decent alternative to Bovada. I don’t personally use Ignition but I have a buddy who swears by it. Plus, the reviews on the likes of TrustPilot are highly favourable and it’s definitely a sportsbook you can trust. Best for poker.
PlayOjo - Excellent slots site! Comprehensive selection, lots of specials and again a really reputable site that you can’t go wrong with
Nitrogen Sports - Really good for sports betting but also has casino betting opportunities. Bitcoin accepted, I personally use it now and then for table games. Solid alternative to Bovada (though I use both because you can compare the odds)
LeoVegas - This is both a sportsbook and a casino but I prefer to use it for its casino games. Lots of promos, huge amount of games, good payouts

Psycho Betting and Stats 301-Degenalytics Question

!!!!DISCLAIMER:!!!!
Before you even start watching this for entertainment and see if you get offended by this un-P.C. content. Don't be a pussy.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Igsb3ejgbL8
If you can't handle it, leave this thread. If you can, then you may proceed to the next level.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
📰📜Story📜📰:
I've been scatter-brained, ire-filled, soul-searching and lost after a 7-day Degen Marathon that brought a shit load of misfortunes. I used to hate social media, but I've learned how to wield the soc. med. sword like a fucking Degen Jedi. I'm going to promote an honest cause where I seek to be victorious in the end. Just you watch you fucking doubters, haters, blockers, scammers. How much grit and intellect would the average fucking person have to endure what I've gone through in the last fucking 48 hours and still come out alive with a sense of greater purpose?
Had about $400 to $500 in righteously earned bonus dollars earned through impossible grinding degen mission that came pretty close to accomplishing (91%).
I would have had some imaginary >$600 BR by now, but instead the roll-over deadline caused the entire deposit to be forfeited and I manage to salvage some $100.
Due to a bonus rollover scheme, 80U of my balance was stuck in bonuses and if I fail to accomplish the roll-over by the deadline, it all gets forfeited.
With a $500-$600 balance, I could have somewhere at $900-1000 by now after a 20-2 W-L record on European football on Wednesday.
How did I get that record yesterday, by sampling a bunch of solid pre-game picks and live betting using my own fucking brain. I consult with the finest in capping. With $10-$20 bet sizes, That would have put me up maybe $15x16 = +$240 at minimum. $1000 was the imaginary bank roll. As of today, betting with $1 units, after Monday-Wednesday's successful run, while Tuesday was a -$50 blip, I converted $100 to about close to $200 (40U).
🤪🤑Psycho Betting🤑🤪:
I learned the art of psycho betting. Taking some well-advised 10U and 30U psycho bets that put my bankroll up a significant amounts, but a big loss does the opposite. Yesterday I manage to hit 4 grand 30U slams in a row, however many on juiced lines, so each $30 bet one returns about $15-20. Thus my bankroll grew nearly +100 units and sits close to $200 from the initial $100 I manage to salvage after that bonus robbery.
If you want to fucking learn the art of Psycho-Betting to the extremest and be successful at it, fucking put in $100 in Bovada (remember to use money that you can afford to lose) and get that fucking bonus for the purpose of looting the bookies in a successful vengeance scheme. This guy is a fucking Artillery: https://twitter.com/GoTimeCappers.
Fucking hit more than 4x30U grand slams yesterday and some 10-20U cherries on top. I tailed his free picks and other through consultation [Haha fucking reddit/sportsbook will probably ban me for promoting another tout, :)].Of course with my $1.5U size on a crippled bank roll, I cannot grow it to as much as I wanted to using GoTime's techniques. I would have been at another +$400 if I had $6 units. It's a high risk and high reward system, but if you are confident with your picks you go big on it. If you lose it, then you grind back with smaller 10U and 20U bets to try to get back to part to be able to do another 30U bet. The goal is to be like 2-1, 3-0 on 30U grand slams a day. There is some level of sustainability and back up plans to execute in case the 30U bet did not work out. It is very improbable for you to lose 10 in a row on well researched picks that the experts in the community have common agreement on. A lot of the times, the lines shift to reward you less for the pick since big money is already on the pick.

Here is a Nice Calculation to do:
📚📑💻Stats 301 Question in Degenalytics💻📑📚**:**
Lastly I asked anyone in the past few days to do a Stats 301 question with Degenalytics Context: To fucking determine the probability that an avg Joe with a $100+100 Bonus Bank-roll or $500 + 250B bank roll can actually pull off the $3000/$7500 grind in some number of N months betting with supposedly 2 full months of real sports (N-2) getting Obliterated by COVID-19. I want you to give me an analytical calculation or a simulation of your work and give me all the possible scenarios.
Then give the final verdict of if that number converges to 0.000% or 100.00% that the average Joe would succeed his false-hope mission for a successful rollover.
In other words think of it like this: If the average joe bets his entire bank roll 12 or more times (roll-over is not x10 because of bookie juice), what is the probability that he will still end up in the green? Also assign a tilt probability factor that the Average Joe would go on some emotional tilt spree to end up bust again? And make it even harder by eliminating 2-3 full months of real sports (N-2.5) and having to bet on Bovada's limited shitty ass lines and shitty live odds.
If you fucking want to eliminate the -2.5 months, then allow the average joe the freedom to bet on N months of e-sports [hahah] and see where that goes.
I had a bad experience betting on e-sports for 2 months and only end up -15-20U. I'm not saying that I lost because I suck at e-sports betting or I tailed the wrong people. The Bovada lines are super shitty and limited. Most of the time, on live esports, all you see are dashed out lines as if they fucking know what the rigged result is and prevent people from doing hedge bets or try to bet opposite spreads when they are winning to guarantee an insurance 1-1 with minimal damage incurred to their bank-roll. The live betting experience on e-sports on the Bovada platform is so bad that you are guaranteed to lose in the long run. Fucking hell Bodog/Bovada even offered me a $250 deposit on 100% bonus after the Rudy Gobert day in Mid March. They advertised the joys and wonders of getting rich betting off esports.
I was so tempted to deposit, however I kind of over-slept and missed out on the dead-line so they closed the bonus offer. Pretty good relief that I did not fuck-up my real credit card and bank account by falling for that scam again. It was an accidental Grace of God moment to fucking avoid that E-sports deposit marketing scam.
BONUS Questions:
A: Calculate the number of months needed and number of successful bets required for the conservative degen 1u bettor to grind out the roll-over playing
$2.00 tug of war with the bookie.
B: Calculate the odds that a professional capper who knows how to adjust unit sizes (1u-5u), do parlays once a while, will succeed the roll-over in some
N-2.5 months or add some e-sports to have fun to keep the N factor.
C.1: Calculate the conditional probabilities for the bettor succeeding in the mission if on the first few days of betting:
i) He loses bet 1 for about $20.
ii) Wins bet 1 for about $20 to earn $17.5.
iii) Goes on a 3 game losing streak
iv) 5 game losing streak
v) Positivity case: The guy got lucky and nearly doubled his bank roll on a decent run from day. Up +100U or $200. [I'm sure that out of bad discipline the average Joe would still go -200U in the long run with a pretty high probability.]
C.2: Determine the mathematical scheme on how the Bookies can use your first few losses to eventually put you in a 60+:40- (Greater than 60% locked in bonus, less than 40% of your deposited money). Bonus:Locked funds ratio.
The Jinx-King answer: It converges to zero [hahaha], but I really am interested in know what other scenarios math and stats people have come up. And your mathematical approaches and formulae used to generate possible scenarios and probabilities. But I think it is safe to say that for the average Joe,the answer is 0.00% success rate. Bodog/Bovada knows this exactly and refuses to put a hiatus on the roll-over deadline. Instead they keep it going so that people can try to wager on e-sports and lose their entire bank roll. They are only interested it getting 100% of your locked funds so that they can buy expensive cruises, yachts, beach mansions, resort packages, etc in Aruba or some other tropical place. Where you got millions of desperate Americans, Canadians in struggling economies with lost jobs and zero positive cash-flow. About 10% or so or perhaps even more deposit money into off-shore gambling websites hoping they can roll-over their bank-roll some ridiculous number of times and make a few bucks to put food on the table.
In fact, it makes matters worst being jobless, having zero cash flow and having locked funds in scamming bookies. If you are not good at casino or sports-betting games, you would have:
A: Lose your entire deposit for failing to grind it out properly.
B: Not grind it out on time on whatever dead-line the roll-over was.
C: Even if you did successfully grind that shit out using conservative 1u betting and play $2 tug of war with the bookie, you will end up just wasting your time grinding it out for hours and hours on end. It would have been better for you to fucking find a job at some farm helping out with harvesting crops or work in meat plants so that food does not go to waste. I bet you I can make more money than your $2 tug of war in one a day picking off cans and bottles off the streets in some exercise walking/running/biking + collection routine then selling it to the recycling center for $0.05-0.25 a unit. Trust me at my university, I spot maybe about 50-200 empty/partially driven cans and bottles left on desks, lecture halls, the floor, libraries, work areas, etc. Supposed that I harvested that shit, I would be making $5-$20 a day collecting it all and going to the recycling center once every week.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
⚖Conclusions⚖:
The fucking company knows this COVID-19 closure shit and want to use it to their advantage to continue to rob millions of their customers. Last week, I tried to call customer service, chat help, email, etc. and management has spoken to plead my case to delay the roll-over dead-line in a pro-rated time frame so that customers with locked balances can resume betting with their full balance when Game 1 of any Major League Sport actually returns. They give me the same bull-shit over and over saying they decline my request. For what reason?
  1. The terms and conditions written in fine print for accepting the bonus conversion challenge. "Rules are Rules."
  2. They were aware my deadline of June 22 at 19:23 ET was approaching soon. They knew I was on a mission to salvage my bank roll before they yank out the 60-75U trapped in bonus balances (i.e. Ghost money). By the end of it, I realize I made a foolish mistake. Most of my wins were just from bonus money and I was rewarded $0.00 on righteous wins on expired bonuses.
Therefore Bonus money only earns bonus money which put my entire bank-roll in a 80:20 ratio where the bookies control 80U in ghost money. By the end of the roll-over deadline, they get to yank out 80U of my balance at the deadline and left me with about $100 (20U) bank roll to regrind.
  1. They knew I was winning consistently making solid picks.
During my 110 hour marathon over the brutal grind of losing more than 70 hours of work, leisure and recreation; 35 hours of sleep; to a fucking impossible grind of trying to roll over some 60% of $7500 on sports I have little knowledge of capping (i.e. E-sports, Table Tennis, European football) after a few days of studying the game, I was picking up my stride to grind it to 91%. They fucking knew that if I had another day to grind, they would be coughing up +$600-800 of withdrawable balance to my account.

Bio:😎📚🎓👨‍🎓
I am a Fucking PHD Candidate (2-6 months from graduating and not having to pay another round of BS tuition) who does a shitload of mathematics, statistics, simulations, mathematical physics, wrote scientific papers. I've won T.A. Awards, Government/Provincial/Institutional level scholarships, Conference presentations, with even Undergrad honors back in the day. DM me if you need a fucking CV to prove my fucking credentials.
Why am I able to write a lot of shit? Because my fucking brain operates on some max level Intel Xeon chip on overclock mode and I cannot do much to shut it down other than going to sleep. They only way is to write articles that I think might benefit the community.
I have a crazy interest in sports and Degen'ing. I love to fucking put action on sports games, be proud about making the correct calls on the outcome of games before it happens, and then boast to my circle of competitive friends about who's the fucking Boss. As tabboo as society think us degens are, I think this absolute BS. There is a pure enjoyment in watching sports and having action on it. It is nice to get paid beer money to cover a round for your buddies, or earn that rent money over a successful night of betting on shit you actually enjoy watching. Fuck I rather make $300 for one evening of enjoying sports rather than working a 9-5 dull job to try to afford rent/mortgage. If I can fucking pay off all my monthly expenses in 3 fucking successful nights of 3 hr sessions of sports matches, that would be ideal. I would take the lather over a 9-5 rat-race grind.
Overall I am "PRO" in the debate for local single sports betting bookies to be established in Canada. Get these fucking scamming off-shore books like bodog/Bovada who contribute only contribute "Bagel" to the Canadian Economy, but instead make it worst by scamming the masses of hard working or desperate people to leak out some sum of billions of dollars of national GDP. Probably the same applies to all American States, that people should not have to cough up their hard earned $$$$ to off-shore scamming bookies. I shall write an article about this later to justify my arguments later.
Ultimately I my goal is to obliterate or negate the influence of all the cons, scamming bookies, and false touts out there who are just interested in stealing people's $$$. To write out full studies on exposing their schemes in an objective lens.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Calling me out: (Think I cannot track these pussy downvotes? I know you cowards 😂😜😎)
If you think I'm full of BS, then send me a personal DM to have a 1v1 argument the same way that Stephen A debates sports with Max Kellerman. You can downvote me or flame me with empty hate talk all you want on public threads. But don't be a fucky pussy by avoiding a debate with me. Trust me, I'm going to win and be the last one to state a real point that you will have no comeback for [haha]. Lastly, if you are open to discuss or debate with me about some issues, do some resarch/exploration, betting strategies, etc., I would love your collaboration in some projects I got going on.
Ultimately, I should help every honest worker strive towards Degen success or if not, just to purely enjoy putting action on sports games. If you are too full of yourself, then you are on your own, I bid thee adieu, and wish you all the best. However you will be absolutely declined to all services and counsel I work to provide to friends for free.

[QUESTION] Bovada Sportsbook Performance Calculations?

Bovada users of Reddit,

I was looking through the "Transactions" section on Bovada, and something came to my mind that I really hadn't thought about much. I pretty much only bet on sports, and don't play many casino games, or at least I try to. Although there is a debate as to whether sports betting is just gambling or if there can be a strategy set out to guarantee profit, at least at a certain confidence level for each wager, sports betting performance can be something easily tracked over time, and then can be analyzed given the data provided right from Bovada.

So this is my question to you all, have you had similar thoughts previously? If I look at my money in, lets say its $200, and my money out, let's say its $100, I can see my net activity, which would be $100 in this case. I can take this data and spread it over a time period, let's say 5 days. If we consider the net activity to be a return on your investment(ROI) then this case would have an ROI of 100% over 5 days. 10 days later when I check I see money in=$450, money out=$200, and net activity=$250. This would be an ROI of 125% in 15 days. Analysis on this sort of data would provide insights into swings, tilts, streaks, and overall help many sports bettors. When looking at this data, what type of ROI do most expect to see? Over the long term, will it be negative?

I have no idea if anyone will find this, but it was my interesting thought of the day.

I did it fellow degens, I cashed out a fat bitcoin bonus

Proof: https://www.reddit.com/usethengineer1/comments/fvmhth/i_did_it/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
I noticed Bovada was offering a bonus for bitcoin deposits so I said why not try it during quarantine and bet on some esports well so I completed a deposit for $79 just for fun. After the deposit went through I realized that the bonus was only for casino games and it has a 50X rollover so I though I am fucked and proceeded to just gamble on black jack and losing all 79 of my actual cash then realizing it was probably over and I just got played by bovada once again. At this point I still had about $70 bonus which can only be used for casino games so I went balls deep into the BJ table with nothing to lose making $5 $10 bets then suddenly I had $300 so I was pretty happy but then realize that black jack only counts 10% of your bets towards the bonus so at this point I know I have to bet around $79,000 on BJ just to unlock the bonus almost impossible. Well, me on a Saturday night quarantined and with nothing to do I decided to just continue playing BJ just to kill time then all of a sudden I have $1000 on my account after some hands but I am still only about 10% ($8000 staked ) towards completing the bonus. Those $1000 is just paper money right there is nothing I can do if I don’t complete the bonus so I said let’s increase the stakes and see what happens so I started playing $50 $100 hands sometimes going down to $5 $10 to avoid big losses somehow it worked and I found myself at about $4000 in my account and about 50%($38,000 staked) of the bonus completed at this point I realized I can just throw down $3000 to $2000 on the slots which count 100% toward the bonus and walk away with about a $1000 which meant more than 10X my original $79 deposit so I was really happy but being the gambler I am I decided to just continue playing BJ with big bets and going up and down all the way to $1000 which meant the bonus was imposible but I just keep grinding and manage to end up back at $4000 on winnings and about 70% of the bonus completed I was really happy at that point and realized that I just needed to throw some money at the slots and I can probably walk away with $2000 so I said let’s take this one home. I proceeded to open the Cleo slot game making $20 bets and it was just standard losing most of the time and some small wins until I hit the free spins and somehow walked away with $1000 from that. then I went to the caesars victory slot and got lucky and made another $700. At that point it was like 2 AM and I was in disbelief of what just happened somehow I went from losing all my initial deposit to having more than $5000 in gains now all converted to cash I was all happy and shaking. I was thinking to go back and put it all in BJ but somehow I got smart and completed a withdraw to save myself.
I got a bonus from Bovada almost lost it all in a couple of minutes then spent about 4 hours gambling and took a big pay day home.

My Bovada Review

Wassssssup Reddit. Not gonna lie - I’m feeling pretty good right now. I just had a big win at Bovada casino (not for the first time) and I’ve seen so many of you’s on here bemoaning Bovada, saying it’s not legit, it’s not this, it’s not that, it cheats blah blah blah.
I’ve gotta say - I’ve always had an ace time on Bovada. Sure, I’ve won some, lost some but that’s gambling - that’s the way it is, bro! Can’t win it all the time.
Anyways I decided now’s the time to write a Bovada review (because I’m sick of the one sided Bovada reviews out there) for y’all because I’ve never seen so many Bovada haters in my life. In the sake of fairness I’ll also touch on a few aspects I don’t like about it too.
Interface
Real clean. Easy to navigate.
Casino Games
Spoilt for choice. Whether you wanna get lit playing blackjack, roulette, craps or poker, Bovada’s got a lot of choice.
True, there’s not as many blackjack variations as there used to be but there’s still plenty to choose from, including Double Blackjack.
Plus, you’ve always got a chance of winning. I turned $25 into $1200 the other week, no fooling.
Slots
Solid chance of winning on the hundreds of slots available. Maybe it’s just me but they seem to tighten up a bit when you’re using a bonus but again that could be me
Is Bovada Safe?
Safe as houses.
It’s been around since 2011 and uses a secure SSL-encrypted connection to keep your details safe. In all my time I’ve been there I’ve never had a thing to worry about.
Bovada Payouts
Yeah, the payouts can be a bit slow but so can all gambling sites. Bitcoin is super fast so I recommend you use that but bank transfer takes a few days, maybe even a week IDK I don’t use it anymore.
Fees
This bit sucks. If you make a deposit using your credit or debit card, you’ll be charged a 5.9% fee. Again, I recommend you use Bitcoin as there are zero fees involved.
International currency conversions are a bummer so I’ve heard too.
Is Bovada legal in the U.S.?
Yeah
eSports?
You bet, dawg. Bovada got the likes of LoL, StarCraft and Dota 2. OK it’s not the hugest selection of eSports games going but it’s got all the biggest names.
Sportsbook?
Bovada is actually the biggest US online sportsbook. There’s a huge amount of markets including baseball, NBA, NFL, NHL, tennis, horse riding, soccer etc.
Honestly, it’s really cool and there are plenty of in-play options.

Mystic Mac returns to the welterweight division for the first time since August 2016. He went 1-1 during his first stint in the weight class, both against Nate Diaz. Conor hasn’t won a fight since he became a rare 2 division UFC title holder, cracking Eddie Alvarez like a iron clad champion, and looking like the Irish Hulk Hogan until Mayweather outclassed him with a Mexican Style TKO in 10. True believers knew that a 4 leaf clover from Saint Patrick himself wouldn't of gave The Mystic Mac a chance in a boxing match against the greatest, but Vegas cleaned up as everyone took that underdog sucker bet and 4.3 million domestic pay-per-views exceeding $600 million in revenue.
Past History
McGregor got his beaten from Khabib Nurmagomedov for the lightweight title and to teach him a lesson, clobbering McGregors head and submitting the man like a pure bred MMA champion – all though Conor seems to only lose by submission.
It’s expected that McGregor will get a rematch with Khabib later this year if Khabib wins his title defense in April at UFC 249 against No. 1 lightweight contender Tony Ferguson. That fight has been booked four times before, and each time it’s fallen through for various reasons mostly due to the fact that Ferguson is a animal and animals get wounded.
"UFC president Dana White has gone on record saying that if McGregor defeats Cerrone, he will be on standby to replace either Nurmagomedov or Ferguson at UFC 249. And to be honest with you, Conor believes that Khabib versus Tony is not going to happen.”
What about the Cowboy?
The 36-year-old Cerrone has 23 wins in the UFC since his inception in 2011
Cowboy split at 2-2 last year, losing his final 2 - Ferguson with a 2nd round TKO and then Justin Gaethje with a 1st round stop. A big right hand hurt Cerrone midway through the round, Gaethje finished the job for the win.
Cowboy Cerrone is a record breaking savage, he holds many titles and accolades for fighting in the UFC, but he has many more out of the ring accomplishments that matter to his legacy as well. Donald Cowboy Cerrone is a rare breed of human that is not only extremely dangerous with his kicks and combinations, but he'll also steal your girl and take her horseback riding, and he wins UFC bonuses at will.
Chances are this will not go the distance.
Mac, age 31, has fought to a decision just 2 times and has 18 knockouts including the best UFC meme KO that was a 13-second knockout of Jose Aldo at UFC 194 until Masvidal sent Askren to the stone age.
Cerrone beats opponents and that's a fact, but he can also make you tap and his kicks will make you wanna let him tap you. The integrity of Dana White and the UFC Organization is interesting to say the least, the company needs a Mystic Mac win more than a close to retirement Donald Cerrone victory. The Cowboy needs the win to set up the next pay day, the fans want a upset and the bookies want your money.

My Gambling Addiction Story: How I've lost $40,000 in my life as a 22-year-old

This is my first reddit post, so please excuse the length, as well as the quality. I’m currently struggling with a gambling addiction that I’ve had for around four years and find that nothing I do has succeeded in helping me overcome this addiction. I figured that other people have experienced a gambling addiction and have successfully overcome one, so I would love to hear anyone’s thoughts, advice, or comments on my situation, as well as gambling addictions in general.
As a kid, I’ve always had an addictive personality. I remember when I was younger, I would play video games for hours on end non-stop. One of my biggest regrets to date is not reading more as a kid. The cognitive ability of reading is one of the most underrated skills in life and my peers and friends who read for fun growing up are not only fast readers, but generally do well in school and life. At the time, I didn’t think much of my video game addiction as it was not harming myself or others. Little did I know, this small addiction would serve as a gateway to a larger addiction that would bring a lot of stress and problems in my life.
Fast forward to the summer after graduating senior year of high school. Growing up, I’ve always been really into soccer, playing competitively on a traveling club team since I was eleven years old. By my senior year of high school, I was committed to a prestigious university to play collegiate soccer. During my high school soccer season my senior year in the spring, I broke my foot in the league championship game against our rivals (which we won). This was the first time in my life that I’ve ever suffered a serious injury and let me tell you, I was not ready for the setbacks that I would face from it, both physically and mentally. For those of you who have never broken a bone, it is one of the most debilitating physical things that can occur to someone, especially if it impairs daily, routine activity. I had to use crutches or a knee scooter to get around everywhere and could not exercise, which caused a great deal of anxiety and jitteriness for me given that I’ve grown up living an active lifestyle. Around the same time, I had some friends who were talking about a casino that was only 15 minutes away from where we lived and it was also an 18+ casino. Given that I couldn’t really do much with a broken foot, I decided to make a trip to this casino to find out what people were talking about. Little did I know that this innocent, first trip to the small casino near my house four years ago would take me down a dark path of gambling.
I remember on my first trip to the casino, I was so excited that I grabbed a handful of cash (I think around $100) and drove as quickly as possible to the casino. When I tried to enter the building, a security guard stopped me and asked for my ID. Amidst my excitement, I realized I forgot my wallet with my driver’s license at home, which led me to speed home to grab it. On my way home, I was stopped by a police officer for going 15 miles per hour over the residential speed limit. The officer was nice enough not to penalize me for not having my ID, but I still received a $140 ticket. After that happened, I was in a pretty bad mood, but still determined to find out what it was like to wager money on a bunch of cards. I remember the first trip to the casino, I actually lost my $100 in about 15 minutes playing blackjack, which should’ve discouraged me from setting foot in a casino ever again. However, me being someone who thinks that they’re smarting than the average gambler, I went home that night and practiced memorizing basic strategy (a strategy that minimizes the house edge in blackjack), as well as studied card counting, specifically the Hi-Lo method (wagering more money when the remaining cards are favorable for the player).
Armed with this new knowledge, I was determined to beat the game and make money from my local casino, after all, it did cost me $240 the first time I went. The few trips after my first, I was making money pretty consistently. I remember there was one time I turned $60 into around $600 and other times where I would walk away making a couple hundred dollars. I didn’t think that gambling was a problem during this time as I was going with my friends, making money, and getting a crazy amount of adrenaline from the casino runs. Being at the blackjack table allowed me to forget about my anxiety and depression that gradually compiled due to my broken foot and the inability to exercise. It provided an escape from the limitations that my broken foot had instilled on me.
At the same time, I was working at Domino’s as a delivery driver, and remember taking the cash from the tips I earned each day that I worked (ranging from $60 to $200) and drive over to the casino to test my luck for that day. For those of you who don’t know, gambling is dangerous because winning money is really not that difficult; however, walking away with the money is a completely different story. A majority of times I went to the casino, I was up from my original buy-in at some point; however, that meant nothing considering I didn't walk away winning most of the time. I started spending more and more time at the casino, and eventually started losing money, including all the money I had previously won from the casino. The problem started getting particularly bad when I started lying to my friends about going to the casino. I even remembered multiple times where I would go with friends (who had more self-control than I did), and would stay longer than them (losing my ride) and resort to calling other friends to pick me up or taking a cab home.
To make matters worse, one of the things I’m most ashamed of to this day was gambling on the birthday of my girlfriend at the time which caused me to be late to her birthday dinner with her family. To make matters worse, I remember taking my girlfriend to dinner near the casino, stopping by the casino to redeem one of the bonus coupons they give you to entice you to visit more frequently, and having her wait in the car for an hour while I played blackjack. Despite having nights where I won over two grand in a matter of a few hours, I still ended up losing at least $3,000 that summer. Luckily, I was going off to college in St. Louis, far away from my hometown casino in Kirkland, Washington, which should have prevented me from gambling during my four years at college.
My Freshman year of college was rough, my foot hadn’t fully recovered so I was not able to play soccer to my full potential. On top of this, I had a difficult time making friends, and was in an unfamiliar, uncomfortable environment. I was surrounded by extremely wealthy, privileged kids from the Northeast, who grew up going to private school. Most of these kids have never worked a job in their lives. This made it a much more difficult time getting accustomed to my new school having grown up on the West Coast, going to public high school, and working throughout high school. Additionally, the way the social scene at my school works is through Greek life, as the population of social, normal people is pretty small. To make matters worse, as a guy, one of the only ways to have a good social life is joining a fraternity; however, since the fraternity houses are pretty small relative to state schools, many kids who rush don’t receive bids. I was unfortunate to be a part of that group when I rushed Freshman year. On top of this blow to my self-esteem, I underwent foot surgery since my foot was not making any progress healing. This caused me to have to rely on crutches and a knee scooter again for the next couple months. I was legitimately depressed and at the lowest low point of my life. I was not doing well in school, didn’t have a girlfriend, and felt like I didn’t have any close friends in general.
This was around the time that I discovered the realm of online gambling, a path that would unfortunately be worse than live casinos. Online casinos make it extremely easy to deposit real money into them, and coincidentally, pretty damn difficult to withdraw money. I remember visiting a casino called Bovada and making my first $100 deposit with my debit card. This deposit quickly lead to more $100 deposits, until I had lost around $1,000 playing online blackjack and poker in a matter of hours. At this point, I didn’t have a job so I was essentially gambling away money my parents had given me to spend on food and necessities. I was too ashamed to tell my parents about this problem, as they were extremely disappointed after I told them at the end of the summer after senior year of high school. Luckily, at this point in my life, I didn’t have too much disposable income to gamble away so the damages were minimal.
The next few years in college got better, I quit soccer and got into lifting, got into a fraternity, and made a lot of new friends, who I’m still close with to this day. Aside from getting into sports gambling for around a month and losing $1,000, I would lose between $1,000 - $2,000 whenever I would go home for winter break at the original casino I went to. Although this was a decent amount of money, I was still able to allocate some of the money that I earned from my college job towards personal spending and was just happy that I had the self-control to ration out a percentage of it that I was comfortable losing when I did gamble. The good thing was that I did not gamble too consistently my sophomore and junior year of college and more importantly, I was not obsessively thinking about it every day.
Now senior year of college was where everything took a turn for the worse and led me to all-time lows in my life. I remember playing poker for $25 buy-ins with my friends at my apartment every night for the first half of the school year. This wasn’t a problem financially since losing $25, was not a big deal to my financial health. Additionally, it was more of a social activity where most people weren’t too concerned about the money and were playing for a good time. This did negatively impact me; however, as I was constantly thinking about poker and gambling in general, all the time.
Around the same time, I got my signing bonus from the company where I will be working at in a couple months and started heading to the nearby casinos with my roommate to play blackjack. I remember the first night we went, I won $2,000 and he won $500 and that immediately hooked me back into the whirlpool of blackjack. I started going at every opportunity I got, which also led to the revival of my online gambling addiction. I remember specifically, one time when I was playing online blackjack, I turned $200 into $4,000, submitted the withdrawal request, but since online casinos take a long time to process the requests (intentionally as they want you to gamble the money away), I ended up losing the $4,000, along with another $1,000 or $2,000 on top of that as I was chasing my losses. I was actually making money at live casinos, but losing double the amount that I made online. This gambling ended up coming to a brief stop when I had lost my signing bonus and all the money in my bank account and I took a break for around a month or so.
The addiction started back up when I received my next paycheck from my college job. The instance, the check was deposited into my bank account and cash was available, I would race over to an ATM and withdraw money to gamble with. I quickly lost $1,000 of it back home when I took my friend who visited to a nearby casino. It was around this time he told me about an app where you can invest in stocks called Robinhood, so I put around $5,000 of that paycheck into stocks on the app. When I put the money in my stock account, I remember making a pact to myself that I would never touch a table game again. I mean “New Year, New Me” right? As you can guess, my pact didn’t last very long as I started playing live poker in the casino. I was so drawn to the appeal of winning money by making the right decision. I was actually profiting from playing live stakes poker, as I studied the game and had sound strategy. The dangerous part about playing live poker for me (I personally don’t consider poker as a complete gamble as there is skill involved), was that whenever I went to the casino to play poker, there were temptations awaiting me (table games). After a month or so of playing strictly poker, I started getting back into blackjack again, along with baccarat, and went to the casino 4-5 times a week. After draining all the money from the stock account, I started borrowing money from my friends as I knew I would get a big paycheck from my job at the time at the end of the school year. Additionally, I started dating my current girlfriend in January of that same year (whom I am currently dating) and love very much. I can regretfully say that gambling has not positively impacted my relationship with her in any way.
When my girlfriend and I went to California during spring break, I remember staying up all night on an online casino playing poker, blackjack, and baccarat after she fell asleep. I exhausted all my money in my bank account including maxing out my credit card, during that trip, and had to borrow money from my girlfriend, one of the most shameful things I’ve done to this date. Additionally, I remember one night where I promised her that I would meet her at a party my fraternity was hosting after I went to the casino to play poker with some friends. I drove two of my friends over, and one of my friends left for the party with my car, while me and my other friend stayed. We ended up playing poker the whole night, and despite being up a couple thousand dollars from blackjack, I missed the party and really disappointed my girlfriend. Some of the biggest fights that I have gotten into with my girlfriend were fueled by gambling. The monetary gains that result from the casino are always temporary because at any point in time, you can lose all the money in your bank account if you spend enough time playing games that are specifically designed to make you lose.
Additionally, my addiction has caused me to disappoint my parents and family. No matter how successful I become, I know they will always be worried about me since they know that this dangerous addiction can ruin my life at any moment, without giving any warning signs. I’ve read so many different stories about how this addiction leads to one of the highest suicide rates when people gamble their life away and feel like there is no way of recovering. I would really like to put an end to this problem, at an early age, before I allow it to affect my relationships with my friends and family.
I started skipping out on social events, and hanging out with my friends in general due to my addiction to gambling. All I thought about 24/7 was all the money that I would make playing poker and blackjack. At one point, I was betting 3 black chips like they were worth a few cents as opposed to one hundred dollars each on table games. I had to lie to my friends about going to the casino because I was embarrassed about that side of my life.
The summer after my graduation, I just continued to dig myself into a deeper hole. I would win money in real life, while losing money playing online poker and blackjack. After the big paycheck from my college job came in, I stored away a decent amount of money in my Robinhood stock account to invest, but in a matter of a few short months, I had gambled away most of that money. I’ve borrowed money from multiple friends, even my girlfriend, and have also exhausted my credit card on several occasions. The loss of money started affecting my play in live poker. I ended up losing $5,000 playing live poker, along with $15,000 online, and at least $20,000 in casinos. Even though I graduated from a prestigious university, and I have a solid job lined up in the fall, I battle constantly with this addiction and the urge to gamble with the hopes of earning all of my money back and being done with gambling once and for all. What started as a spark of curiosity turned into an escape from emotional pain and eventually into a lifelong attempt to break-even.
I've tried many things to overcome this addiction, but nothing has worked successfully. I'm posting on here today because I want to end this addiction once and for all. I figure if I post on reddit, I will at least have written down this commitment in a publicly available space.
TL;DR: What started as a curiosity about what gambling was turned into a four year struggle with this addiction that has led to financial distress, relationship problems, and unproductive behavior. Wrote this reddit post to seek advice on overcoming a gambling addiction, and would love to hear any thoughts, comments, or concerns.

My poker story (very long)

Just wanted to get this all in writing and figured Reddit may find the story interesting. If not, I'm fine with just materializing my thoughts somewhere.
I became interested in poker a little less than two years ago as the result of living with a roommate who had picked it up as more than just a hobby. I had previously seen WSOP broadcasts on ESPN, but my interest never advanced beyond anything casual and fleeting. After moving in with my friend in 2014 that changed. He had dropped out of a PhD program and was writing junk articles for a news aggregation website from home and had picked poker up on the side. I actually wasn't really privy to this at all until he started driving to downtown Detroit at night to visit the casino, sometimes not returning until the next night.
When he started to play Bovada on the side I couldn't help but notice, watch, and become interested. I hadn't really thought about online poker very much before. I knew it was illegal and wasn't aware of the options available to U.S. players. I watched my roommate play tournaments and asked him strategy questions while he played. He always obliged and I learned a lot just talking to him. Eventually, I couldn't help it and had to deposit. I threw $100 down on Bovada and started playing low stakes cash games. I still knew relatively little about strategy and virtually nothing about bank roll management or game selection. I remember playing up to .25/.50 on a $100 roll. I probably deposited $100-$150 3 or 4 times in the first few months of playing. Sometimes I'd last a few weeks, sometimes a few days. I had issues with tilt and loved to drink while playing, it just made it feel more exciting to me. During this time I mixed up my games; I played 6 max NLHE, MTTs, low stakes SnGs, and some PLO8.
I never really accumulated more than $2-300 on my account until one day I binked a tournament and then finished 2nd in a hyper the same night. I think my bankroll bounced to about $1,000 at that point. I remember being so pumped at 2:30 a.m. after the bink, high fiving my roommate and taking shots all over about $400. I can see why tournament players do what they do; the feeling of winning a tournament is incredible.
I kept experimenting with different game types and eventually learned about PLO. This was my roommate's game; he had since moved on from 1/2 and 2/5 live PLO and was playing up to 25/50 at the casino and at private game. I watched him play PLO online and was thrilled by the idea of having 4 cards. It probably took me weeks though before I had to stop asking him why he didn't have straights and flushes in certain spots.
Nevertheless, I started to play some PLO on Bovada. All this time I was finishing up my undergraduate degree in finance, and I had a ton of spare time on the side to play. I had heard about the variance of PLO and actually had a very conservative bankroll. I began playing .05/.10 and didn't take shots at .10/.25 until I had a $1,500 roll. PLO on bovada is notoriously soft, so even though I didn't know a ton, I was still beating the games at a decent clip. I had less conservative BRM as I moved up; playing .25/.50 at $2,000 at .50/$1 at $3,000. During this period, there were definitely times I tilted way more than I should have. I wasn't totally ready for the mental aspect of a game like PLO, but I was on a heater and my bankroll kept going up.
My play definitely improved over the months, but not as much as it ever should have. I learned most of what I know from strategy talks with my rooomate and having him watch my sessions. I gleaned what info I could from videos of PLO cash games on youtube which were/are few and far between.
I don't really have a clear memory of my time playing poker for the next few months. I mainly played .50/1 and sometimes .25/.50 when I was on a downswing. I do remember certain nights getting incredibly drunk and spewing, being incredibly disappointed the next morning that I had shoveled off several buyins. I was still tilted every time a session didn't result in my bankroll increasing. There were probably points where I lost $1,000-$1,500 and had to grind .25/.5 to revitalize my bankroll.
PLO is a sick game and not for the mentally weak. I remember playing against an opponent playing 100/90/90 who would pot every flop regardless of preflop action, position, or board texture. I lost probably 6 BI to him just 5 bet jamming the upper 30% of my range pre and not hitting a single flop. Maniacs like him weren't even incredibly uncommon in my games and they tilted me more than anything else. But the other side of the coin was there too; I took 12 BI back from that guy during the same session and still remember sitting on a .50/1 table with $1,300. It was an amazing feeling. For those interested, I've had a similar experience in my post history sitting in the G seat against an incredible whale one night at .10/.25. I think I ran up over $500 on that table, which is the most buyins I've ever sat.
I was running well and my BR reached a peak of $6,200. I was taking shots at 200PLO online and found the games just as soft as the 100PLO games that had become my standard. I never really broke through at this level, bouncing back and forth between $5,000 and $6,000.
Anyways, fast forward a couple months ago. I am house sitting for my parents for the weekend and have nothing better to do than grind out a ton of 100PLO sessions. My first night I went on an incredible heater. I was winning every flip and getting in set-over-set situations on the regular. I was probably up about $1,000 on the night, including sitting at one table with $1,200 again. Then, it happened. It was probably 2 or 3 am and a huge fish sat at one of my tables. He called a river jam on a straight-y board with bottom pair or something for 100BB. For those who play/know PLO, it's an extremely light call. I don't remember the exact situation, but the board was probably something like KT567 and he called the river with a lone 5. I don't know what happened to me right then, but I snapped. I had tilted before, but always kept it somewhat under control. This time I had no control and began spewing on that table. It soon spilled over to my other tables. I went from up 10 BI to down 8BI on the session in about 2 hours.
To make matters worse, I did something I had never previously done playing poker before; attempt to recoup my losses by playing higher stakes. I figured I would just short stack a 5/10 game, try to win one flip, and go to sleep even on the day and try to shake it off tomorrow. Well, as these stories tend to end, it didn't quite work out that way. I initially sat at a 5/10 table and lost a flip playing about 30 BB or whatever the minimum is. Now being down ~11-12 "BI" on the day I sat at a FR 10/20 game. I will say, there actually was a huge adrenaline factor and I temporarily gained my composure playing such high stakes. I eventually was dealt AAxx and had a chance to 3bet pre short stacked and my SPR was under 1. I jammed the flop and got snap called by a pair with tons of 2 pair outs and lost the flip. I wasn't tilted, but my BR was eviscerated at this point. Still, I was drunk and wanted to recoup. I moved back to 5/10.
Shortly after moving back to a FR 5/10 game, my luck turned around. I won 2 flips and was sitting with $1,500. I had regained what I lost at 10/20 with a chance to even out my session overall. The game had broken down and we were playing 3 handed. There was another clearly drunk player at the table that I tanlged with in my final pot at the table; I flatted a 3b in position and called two streets with top 2. The river paired an undercard and the board must have looked something like 4779T. I decided to bluff the river IP and got X/R'd but not huge. I had the blockers to top boat and decided to 3bet the river just a click above minimum as a bluff. Somehow he didn't have quads and this worked. After using his full timebank, the anon V folded and I was somehow back to within $4-500 of being even on the day.
This is probably where my high stakes adventure should have ended, but you and I both know these stories never end like that. I short stacked a 5/10 6 max game, and told a friend over skype that I just needed to win one flip and I would literally be done. That was my full intention too as I had started to sober up around 6 am. Nobody might believe me, but I had every intention to sit out the table after winning one flip, sleep, and try to rethink everything the next day.
I had my chance when I was dealt KKxx with hearts. I opened in MP and was 3b by another short stack on the button; the absolute perfect situation. I 4b and he called with and SPR of about .4-.5. I would have called off the jam, but his flat is even better as it means he never has aces. the flop came 335 with 2 hearts, one of the best possible non-K flops. I jammed and he snapped, turned over QQTJ with no flush draw. He was literally drawing near dead. Then, the turn was the 2 out Q. Fate decided to rub it in by giving me a flush on the river, too.
I won't go into too much detail about what happened next. I went back to 10/20, lost another hand, and decided to go to bed. At this point I still had probably $1,700 in my roll but I was crushed. I actually went and slept for a few hours, woke up, sat another 5/10 games and lost all but $300. I felt like absolute shit, almost like my girlfriend had broken up with me. For a week or so I used poker points and tried to play small stakes to grind back up, but I just didn't have the discipline to play solid and busted everything.
That might have been where the story ended, but I decided to clear my head for a week or two and re-evaluate. I thought about the mental game a lot and what I could do to improve. It was actually Doug Polk's stream that really helped me come to some realizations about the game. I watched him play such high stakes hand virtually immune to tilt. He shrugged off five-figure losses and literally laughed. I saw his success and really began to start thinking in the right mindset; ignore short term results, play well, and most of all, don't get mad at incompetent opponents. Laugh at their idiocy, their minus EV decision, and focus on your play.
After a few weeks elapsed I loaded $300 onto Bovada. This is the most I had ever deposited and the first time I had deposited in over a year. My BRM was very aggressive as I didn't really have a ton of patience for .02 and .05. I played .25 zone poker mostly with about 10-12 BI. I struggled with incredibly runbad during this time and after a few weeks, couldn't bust through. I peaked at around $500 but ended at about $50. NLHE just wasn't fun for me after playing PLO.
It was then I made another horrible decision; I took everything to Bovada's virual casino and asked my friend for red or black. I put my last $50 and somehow my personal Nostradamus gave me 3 correct colors in a row and I was back up to $300. I was so thrilled at not having to deposit again that I approached zone with an even fresher mindset (although still the same incredibly poor BRM.) I finally started to run well and played my way to $500, when I jumped into .25/50 PLO (even better BRM right?)
From there, I managed to run well enough to not have to consider moving down to .10/.25. Over the course of the last several months I have used my spare time to grind and actually study outside of the game for some of the first times ever. Mentally, I feel like I have overcome a hurdle after putting myself through what I did. I shrugged off two 1-outers a month ago during a 20BI downsing and never lost track of my goals. All this time, more than anything I just wanted to get back to my regular stakes and enjoy the game. I truly do enjoy poker. I love firing up 4 tables on a Friday night at a stake I am well rolled for.
The end of my story, for now, is last night. I played a quick 1 hour session and won 5 BI at 100PLO, bringing my roll to a peak of $3,500 after my second deposit. Hah! I'm sure you thought this is where I would degen and bust again, but it isn't. I've been balancing my life with work, routine time at the gym, poker, and going out with friends. Playing shorter sessions and not playing while drunk. I've been having a lot of fun and am hoping I can take a shot at those 200PLO games again soon.
TL;DR: Started playing poker, was good at it and with the help of rungood played decent stakes. Tilted like a ding dong and lost my roll. Re-deposited for the first time in over a year and had to save that roll with a couple trips to the roulette table, BR is currently back to near the level it was when I peaked.
Props and thanks to you if you decided to read all that.

[uncensored-r/CryptoCurrency] FUN Ethereum Based Casino Protocol saves millions for casino operators.

The original post's content was as follows:
"online casinos have operating costs and license fees they pay (typically 12-15% revenue) ? the server infrastructure they run, in remote island locations (hundreds or thousands of servers) ? the payments team.. the fraud investigators... the customer service team (usually relating to deposits & withdrawals) - the headcount of each online casino is often tens to hundreds of people, and the larger ones might even be thousands? how many people do you think bovada and its associated companies employs? (many hundreds of people spread around the world)
funfair is virtually eliminating or materially reducing those operating costs, ie, the platform access fees, from crypto currency there's no fraud investigators, no payments support.. probably very little required in customer service, no deposits or withdrawals, etc. and almost no servers. just a tiny server infrastructure (to run the fate channel service) instead of a massive one (no game servers required, no RGS etc)."

bovada blackjack tables

Hello, I was wondering which Bovada blackjack table to play, 6 deck, 2 deck or single deck
Here are the rules for six deck: https://casino.bovada.lv/casino-guide/table-games/blackjack
single deck https://casino.bovada.lv/casino-guide/table-games/single-deck-blackjack
double deck https://casino.bovada.lv/casino-guide/table-games/double-deck-blackjack
1) six decks, reshuffled each time 2) hits on soft 17 3) split up to three hands 4) surrender any first two cards (THIS RULE IS NOT HERE FOR THE SINGLE OR DOUBLE DECK) 5) split aces receive only one card 6) no re-splitting of aces 7)split ace + ten is not blackjack
It looks like the only difference is that there is no surrender option, so i guess the real question is, how valuable is the surrender? is having the single deck and no surrender better than six decks and surrender?
Also, could anyone else recommend me another subreddit to post this on?
Thank you!
EDIT: apologies for the formatting, I just joined reddit and have no clue what im doing.
EDIT2: Thank you to tlaj, who made the correlation between house edge and how profitable(?) blackjack can be, although i did not get his exact numbers, but also concluded that the single deck has the lowest house edge. If anyone is curious, I looked up basic play for the single deck rules two different times and got the same chart for both, which makes me extremely happy!
here are the links: 1) youll have to enter in the rules: http://blackjackdoc.com/strategy-calculator.htm 2) http://wizardofodds.com/games/blackjack/strategy/calculato (you will also have to make sure the rules match up)
i prefer chart #1 because it has the "exceptions" to the rule, something which chart #2 doesnt have (but they both still match up with each other)
THANK YOU!
EDIT 3: Hello! I realized why the single deck and double deck have better odds: the minimum bet for single deck is 25, while the minimum bet for double deck is 10! that bites! haha

You're about to die. There is an amateur poker player sitting right next to you. You decide that your final words will encompass the most important thing you have learned throughout your years of pro poker. WHAT ARE YOUR FINAL WORDS??? Tldr: gimme some good poker tips. 1st off, your screenname is priceless...This one's an easy one for me though. Never let your ego get in the way of continuing to try and learn as much as you can about the game. Too many players hit a point where they start to win and then refuse to admit they can always learn more. I call this the game over point lol.
Can you loan me a few hundred bucks? my tv just shit the bed. You take Full Tilt transfers?
Does that eventually translate to real cash lol, Haha we can only pray.
I wish this wasn't a joke. A friend of mine won an FTOPS event a few days before they were raided and hadn't withdrawn in months. Sigh, yea I know...I just try and use humor not to punch holes in walls.
Can I ask how much did you lose when FT went tits up? I didn't get killed very badly, I was taking some time off poker so had a good chunk of my online roll off the sites. I was saying in an earlier post I was with a buddy who had about 200k online at the time when we found out the shit hit the fan. Never thought I'd see someone get that emotional, but clearly understandable. :/
Are you the Jason Lee that recently got signed to Lock Poker? I would be that same Jason Lee.
I assume that you would recommend this site to US players as opposed to bovada and the like? As this a merge skin, how confident should US players be about depositing mobnies on this site. I cant stand Bovada btw. Yea, I actually never even got on Bovada because I just heard the most tilting stories about it. I'm personally very confident with my money on Lock, and not just saying that because I'm one of their pros. The upper management there actually cares about their players and is constantly looking to improve the customer experience. This is something I respect a lot about them.
I only have money on Bovada....well I do have a few hundo still on Full Tilt...those fucks. If you're interested in moving over, shoot me a PM before you get on, I get some special perks I can offer people that create accounts.
Pretty much....I actually laughed at the customer service rep that I talked to, said, "you fuckin kidding me" and hung up. Yea, I had a buddy that just posted a blog about that jacking a bunch of cash from him as well. I'd be scared playing on a site that it's sister site (Blow-dog)'s domain just got appropriated by the DOJ.
Are you still living in the states playing online or have you moved eslewhere? Been literally bouncing all over the place as of late, but all in the states. I'm currently doing this Reddit from Vegas. Seems like a decent place to be? lol Most of my friends went to Canada, Costa Rica and a few to Panama and Thailand.
How hard is it to do your taxes? The first year I did them it was hell because I didn't stay on top of keeping records and had to retro go back and do everything. Since then I learned my lesson and stayed on top of keeping records. Its still annoying though every year when everyone is talking about getting their returns and I'm writing a check to Uncle Sam.
But you get to write off your losses, right? I'd imagine that good records are very important. Does the IRS keep a special watch on pro gamblers for audit purposes? Seems like one of those professions that would be red flagged by them. Yea, and they actually changed the legislation this year that if you have a net losing year, you can actually roll those loses into future years...a.k.a lose 10k this year, make 100k next...only pay taxes on 90k.
Most money you've ever lost in one pot? Don't play a tooooon of cash games, so prolly only a few thousand in that department. The biggest tournament I've played and busted was a 20k buyin in France. I had lots of beers after that one.
only a few thousand in that department. That'd pay my rent and feed me for half a year. Fair as fuck :) Hah, yea...I try not to get greedy like some players. I'm happy when I lose $1 and mad when I lose .01. lol.
How much vanished into the Full Tilt black hole? Any funds lost on the evil twins aka UB/AP? I actually didn't get killed as much as a lot of my friends because it was during my 8 month hiatus from the game last year so I didn't have a ton on there. I had some friends though that had a couple hundred k on there and was with them when they found out it all went bye bye. Let's just say I saw a lot of people get a lot more emotional than I ever expected to see them get.
I'll go for the classic question... how much of poker is strategy, and how much is luck? And what can a player do when their luck sucks? Oldie but a goodie (I heard an old person say that once lol)...I'd say if I had to put numbers on it, about 65% skill, 30% luck and 5% how much the poker gods love you. These numbers I think against worse players move to 70-75% skill because you're able to read them better and push them around more effectively. I will never deny though that there definitely is a luck factor involved, its just not the predominant factor in determining who wins and who loses.
How do you distinguish between luck and the poker gods? I'm an atheist, but if praying to the poker gods can give me a 5% edge, I'll take it. If you can maximize what you win with the best hands and minimize what you lose with the worst, that I consider skill. Actually getting the best and worst hands, thats the luck part. Also getting it in as a big favorite = skill, losing as a big favorite=luck.
I'm no pro, but I've always said that in poker skill is what helps you get lucky, would that be adequate? Ehhh, when you need to get lucky is usually only when you get your money in bad, so technically it would be something only happening when you're playing less than optimally. However, it would be adequate to say that a skilled player will take better advantage of hitting a miracle card or getting lucky.
Is it true that the key to winning is just winning a little bit, then leaving the table? Def disagree with this. A lot of people after they see me win a pot are like ooooo take that cash and run. The thing is, if you're in a good game, you should stay in that game as long as you're playing well and the game stays a good game. I also think I play a lot better when I'm winning, so I will def keep playing.
I'm mainly a tournament guy so they usually don't let me leave after I win a pot :P.
How about online poker? What do you think? If I'm having a bad day, I'll unregister from the rest of my tournaments so I can proceed to ram my head into the wall. But I feel like its the same as live, if you're playing well and in a good game; stay in it. If people are willing to give cash away, stay and take it :)
What do you think is the major difference between online and real life poker? I reallllly like online because I'm about as ADD as they come. I usually play 10-20 tables at once, mainly to keep my mind busy and keep me from doing anything stupid and playing too many hands. This is the biggest difference I see.
As per strategy wise, live players love to call more (and bigger) 3 bets preflop ~ they just refuse to not defend here, the blinds usually defend a lot more live as well, raise sizes usually need to be bigger live to accomplish the same annnndd.....those are the main differences that pop into my mind.
You can of course also see your opponent to allow for making more reads and they make me wear pants live :(
We need to get you some Adderall. You would be unstoppable! Lol, used it before...I think I was the definition of "dialed in".
What do you mean by defend. Basically when you raise someone's blind and they choose to not fold and fight you in the pot with a mediocre to bad holding they might normally fold, this is called defending. Usually its to send you a message to stop 3 betting them or stop stealing their blinds.
Hell of a story man, I get the same feel when I go mini-golfing with my BROS and on the 18th hole the ball just floats, time stops, my mind goes numb, and it just sinks right in for a hole in one. Then I'm like FREE ROUND BITCHES. I enjoy playing 10-2 off-suit in low buyin games just to fuck with people, you should try that for me someday. I hope you're comfortable because I've been waiting for a pro poker player for a long time now, I ain't goin anywhere. If you could play poker with any 5 people (living or dead, fictional or real), who would they be? Great question... outside of just saying EVERYONE of the business men playing in the huge Macau game...if it were purely a social game Superman, The Devil, Ivey, Dwan and Howard Lederer...the first 4 to challenge myself since its a fun game, and Howard to punch in the face.
Yeah fuck him, I used to have a Full Tilt account and that could have been my money. Need my money for taco bell 5 buck boxes and also other things. Do you gamble much on non-skill games? Or any games involving a house advantage? The best was right after all this shit last year, his wife tried to release her own jewelry line at the WSOP. I reaaaalllllly wanted to go up and just request my jewelry since it was clearly paid for with a bunch of our cash.
Do you think that in 2011/2012 the online games have got a lot tougher to beat? How far can you go with ABC poker online? What level can you beat with this technique? Is playing multitable with reasonably good regs profitable at high levels? 1- I think the low to mid stakes online have actually gotten considerably easier. A lot of the serious low to mid stakes grinders ended up moving on to other things leaving a bit of a vacuum at these stakes. I think the higher stakes have gotten a bit more difficult with a lot of the fish exiting the market. They are slowly returning though from my observations. 2- I honestly think pretty straight forward ABC can beat almost any level of poker. My deepest live run at the EPT Villamoura stop, I literally played straight forward ABC for all 6 days. No crazy bluffs, no wild floats etc etc, just played my cards optimally and made solid reads. Everyone else got out of line and paid when I had it. There are a few adjustments you can occasionally make - getting more aggressive on the bubble, stealing some blinds when the antes kick in, but for the most part the ABC can beat all levels. 4- Profitability defffffinetly goes way down when you start playing with all regs. I still think there are a lot of regs that are profitable that have leaks that can be exploited. I'm pretty positive I have leaks that can be exploited as well. So to answer the question, yes they can be profitable but definitely tougher to beat.
Has your game been impacted by becoming well known? I have heard every donk on the table wants to felt the big name pro so if it's true, how do you adapt to that? Its interesting, because I never really experienced this until very very recently. As per being known at live tournaments, I get noticed and recognized a lot less than some people might expect. They usually just look at me and go, "oh look some crazy internet kid," just because I'm young, pale and have zero sense of style :)
The crazy part is since I signed with Lock and they made my screenname highlighted in red on there, I feel like a baby goat in a sea of wolves. I have NEVER had people try and make plays and bluff me as much as I'm experiencing on there. It's increased so much that I've had to make strategic adjustments to how I play.
I basically always tell people I want to play opposite of everyone else. If everyone is going to try and bluff me and run over me every pot, I choose to just sit back, pick up a hand and let them bluff off the world to me. It's nice to almost always get action on hands, it is a bit more boring though. Winning poker isn't always "fun poker" lol.
$3 million in winnings? Feeling charitable? :D. Haha, as of late I've been gladly donating back to the community, not by choice though lol.
Story? Not a super eventful one; just on a bit of a downswing. Nothing huge, I just always get annoyed when I don't win.
Oh I thought your neighbouring community I didn't get it as the ''Poker Community'' ! I thought you had gone nuts with that money and somewhat landed in trouble that required you to pay back to the community. Hah, I am a bit of a wild one at times, but thankfully no on that...so far.
Does phil Hellmuth really bitch about every hand or is that some gimmick? I actually did a TV show with Phil a few years ago, here's a link to an article about it.
Best Damn Poker Show
Basically, I asked Phil this question directly. His response was basically, he does get upset when people do moronic things but a lot of the over the top reactions are aimed at branding himself as the Poker Brat. Everyone loves to hate someone, and also loves to see what they're going to do next. This is pretty much what he's shooting for which I understand and thinks is prolly business smart, just a lot to deal with if you're the one getting berated.
3 or 4 bet Hellmuth and he will get pissed. You'd be surprised how often if you give someone shit for 3 or 4 betting how often they'll never do it as a bluff again.
Is Bellande's twitter not the most comical poker twitter feed going or what? I mean who is that guys backer? haha. Lol, I don't follow him but definitely going to check it out. I actually hammered one night in Canada at the NAPT jokingly tried to trade my gf at the time for a rack of chips from him. I was joking of course but apparently she didn't find the humor. Maybe this is the reason I'm single now lol.
Dude, check it out. Its hilarious. He's def getting a new follower.
Why do you play under a recognizable screenname online? Doesn't it make you more of a target/predictable? I think when I started playing, I had dreams of being a notable player, someone people recognized. Not so much to be a fame whore, but more for validation that I truly made it in the industry. It's def a lot easier to brand yourself this way if there is congruency in who you are everywhere.
From a direct dollar making stand point though, different screennames is probably +ev.
Makes sense. I'll prolly stick with the same screennames/image for the rest of time. I've started expanding my poker career into teaching, writing and some other aspects to make money outside of just playing. I also don't really mind if I lose a little bit of EV to help advance the other poker related endeavors.
Considering your skill, at what point do you imagine letting go of the pro image to make money anonymously? Do you not already have multiple accounts for this? There are also some perks to knowing people think they know how you normally play. It allows you to take some unconventional lines some times because you know people think they know how you always play things. (If that made sense lol)
Also, pokerstars or fulltilt (or other)? No multiple accounts for this guy, JaspudUF till I die :)
I like your integrity. Thanks for answering my questions! Of course, hope the info helps some :)
Ever splash the pot? Every chance I get :)
What would you advise to anyone looking to use Poker as a source of income in the future? How often do you play? Biggest Win? McDonalds or KFC? I would say make sure that you truly are being honest with yourself about being a winner or a loser at the game. So many people tell me they beat the game and when we sit down and actually look at numbers, they're lieing to themselves. If you do find you are winning consistently, make sure its enough to sustain your desired life and more importantly you have a cushion in case of an inevitable bad run. I prolly play 3-4 days a week, I used to obsessively play 6-7 days a week but I think that was not good for the health.
KFC if I'm running good, McDonalds after a bad session. No questions asked there haha.
What are your other hobbies? I'm a gym rat, I kickbox and do jui-jitsu (although I havent in a few months since I've been traveling a lot :/ Reddit and internet humor have become amazing hobbies as of late lol and my number 1 hobby is actually people watching. I love the nonverbal communication/psychology side of poker and life, and just chilling trying to study what people are thinking amuses the hell out of me.
I actually have to tell girls on dates that when I'm constantly staring over there shoulders at other people its not because I dont enjoy their company but just obsessed with people watching. lol.
Such a romantic! I need to hit the gym. When I'm much older I think instead of jigsaw building and wetting myself I will take up Poker. At the moment money isn't available to piss away. For non money games I have been good online, however I think I would be awful under pressure. My buddies grandma just came into town and she might be the biggest gamblecard player I've ever met in my life. If I tried to make her do a jigsaw puzzle, she'd ask me how much I want to play for per piece. Def a mind stimulating game.
What are you planning to play at the WSOP this year? How many events? I cant wait to watch the "Drop in the Bucket" tourney. Im surprised Ivey hasnt confirmed yet....I realize he has a lot of shit goin on with FT and his divorce and shit. That Drop in the Bucket tourney will be insane if it runs. I hear a few rumors that even though they have a bunch of confirmed players, no ones put the cash down yet. I can't confirm this but its what I'm hearing. As per me, I'm going to try and play as many of the hold em events as possible. I took last summer off and am completely drooling waiting to play this year.
I always try and get backing for the series, which I haven't yet started looking into this year but that usually helps dictate how much I'm going to play. I paid for the series myself one year and frankly the potential swings on that are huge and very few players are anywhere close to properly bankrolled for these tourneys.
The series is the most fun time of the year but its also for about 95% of the players, the most frustrating time of the year. You get so excited about the potential of the cash and a bracelet and then if you don't prevail, its tough to pick yourself up and come back the next day for more of a pounding lol.
Do you remember a few years ago, theres was this dude from NY a few years ago that had a blog on Pokerroad that would go ape shit on his blog after he busted from a WSOP prelim? I cant remember his name but it was hilarious. Joe Sebok supplied with a cam to record that shit. Lol, I don't but if you find a link to it, please post...I love watching people tilt haha.
Theres only a few dudes that are rolled for that Drop in a Bucket...Guy Laliberte, a few Asian businessmen, and that dude that owns a few casinos in vegas. Yea sooooooo few people are rolled for that. I've heard that they're going to run regional satellites but haven't seen any links or anything. I'm going to choose not to play that one, unless someone gives me a milly to play it. I won't say no :)
This dude Eugene Todd theres a few on there...if you can find the pokerroad blogs...they are epic. Lol, I just watched about 45 seconds of the intro to his new show. I think I'm somehow on tilt already.
Do you play for fun or just for the money? Also, what's the most you've ever won in a day? I actually do play for fun quite a bit with friends; I almost always lose when I play for fun too lol...When I'm playing to make money, I still love the game and the adrenaline rush accompanied. I stopped loving it for a while last year and got burnt out and immediately took like 8 months off. Best move ever...My largest score was $240k for a 3rd place in an EPT. I guess technically that's 6 days but still my biggest win.
So you won that $240k..what % did you have to pay in taxes? What was your net from that $240k? I was backed in the event; so half of it went to the backers right away. I was in whatever the higher tax bracket was that year, so the taxes on that were rough. The toughest part some card players deal with is taxes aren't always immediately withheld on winnings, so you have to put money aside for when it's time to pay taxes. I have some friends that have won tournaments, spent all the money and come tax time had to figure something out to be able to cover the bill to Uncle Sam.
I would imagine winning the $8.8M 1st prize in the Main Event, they net around $5?M after paying 30-40% in taxes? I'm lucky that my parents stayed involved in my life the past few years to inform me of these things before I also went and did something stupid like that. I try my hardest to share this info with my friends, it occasionally sinks in.
What's the most amazing poker hand you've ever been in? Someone asked this earlier and I couldnt think of an answer, but I think I've thought of one that amused me quite a bit. When I did Good Morning America, we spent a good amount of time teaching George Stephanopoulos the basics of tournament poker. He was definitely a beginner but seemed to be picking up things pretty quickly.
The tournament we ended up playing was a super turbo so things were moving pretty quickly. The gist of the hand was George actually limp trapped me with Queens and owned me on national television. Now, with stack sizes and all it wasn't an amazing trap or anything but I just found it hilarious that he came up with a decent move himself and was able to bust me. I was half proud and half blah lol.
What kind of stakes do you play online? Prior to Black Friday, I would try and play the biggest tourneys they had online and was able to get enough volume with those. Since Black Friday, there are still some good higher buy-in tournaments but not quite enough to fulfill my ADD requirements so I find myself playing everything from the highest buyins down to even playing $20 tournaments.
Cash is cash, even making a lot of money I still get happy when I win $1. Its a perspective I hope to ALWAYS hold on to.
Do you think that poker as a game has peaked? If not, when do you think this will happen? Do you think you could re-create your success starting today from zero? Do you think that online is much harder to win at than live? How many hours a day do you play? I dont think its peaked, I think when things go all out in the states with legislation we're gonna see an explosion. I think I could, all it is is a willingness to learn, hard work and dedication. All you really need outside of that is emotional control and I think there might be some form of x factor to it. I think 1 game vs 1 game, online can be tougher, but the ability to multi table allows you to severely cut down on your variance and I think make more in the long run. When I play, usually 8-10 hrs...I've played as much as 37 before though lol I guess technically that wouldn't be in one day. After that sesh, you could have convinced me it was though.
What have you done with your winnings? Done a poor job of saving my winnings but a great job of spending it :) Basically, lived "the life", partied, caused trouble etc etc. Trying to change that this year. Practice and read everything you can get your hands on.
Thanks. :) Out of your winnings, after tax and stakes how much are you at? I think there's always the dream of millions for players but taxes must hurt..:( Taxes are never the fun part haha, I'm not sure exactly where this falls...I'll see if I can pull up records later today and give you a stronger idea of the impact there.
How long did it take for you to become a pro? How did your family/close ones take to you playing excessively? Well... - Started playing when my friends invited me to a home game in college. I was officially the worst lol - After that, I played pretty much every day and read anything and everything I could get my hands on. I think it was maybe like a year later that I started making some dollars and maybe 6 months past that I decided to look at making it a full time gig. - Great question here...I came from a super straight laced, military family. If you can imagine how the phrase of "I want to gamble for a living" went over, it was rough at first. Luckily my parents were somewhat open to the thought of it and basically said, we'll support it as long as you can prove its a viable career and you can sustain a living at it.
How long did it take for you to become a winning player? Where did you mainly play online? Did/do you use good bankroll management? About a year into learning and playing I started actually making positive cash flow. Thankfully before that I stayed playing pretty low so I didn't really lose much. - I used to play predominately on Stars, Tilt and UB. Way back in the day it was Paradise. Now a days, exclusively at Lock. - Its funny, about 99% of my career I have except for my first decent score. I had $120 bucks online and put $60 bucks into a $30 rebuy (oops lol). Ended up cashing for about 3k I think it was and post that returned to being a good boy for the most part in the BR management department.
Best fold you have ever made? Best call? Is it "better" to make a wrong call, or the wrong laydown? Fave hand that you have seen on TV? Best and worst TV pro? Fave and least fave TV pro? The problem with "the best fold you ever made" is you never really know unless your opponent shows you...there are times I was pretty sure I made a rockstar lay down but can't really be sure... They always say its better to make an incorrect fold than a bad call, it costs you less. I think personally a mistake is a mistake and all should be treated the same in your mind (from a learning stand point).
Best TV pro is prolly Ivey...and worst is everyone that's cocky... especially players that go deep in 1 event and immediately start talking about how they're the greatest thing since sliced bread. I'll refrain from mentioning names to avoid the awkward situations lol My fav pros to watch are either my friends or players that are better than me so I can not only be entertained but also learn at the same time.
What's your reading recommendation to get into online poker? I want to prepare now that online gambling is legal. Do you mean in regards to strategy or the logistics of getting back on?
Well, you've got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em, know when to walk away, know when to run. You never count your money when you're sittin' at the table, there'll be time enough for countin' When the dealin's done. I still randomly sing this at the table :)
Strategies. I know for online there are software programs that measure certain metrics, like how likely the person will fold for certain card combination. I'm a newb.. I want to understand how to analyze the card probabilities & apply user playing history to gain an edge. What's the best book to learn this? Honestly, the best way to win online is just to have strong fundamentals. It sounds like an answer thats "too easy to be true" but in reality, majority of the players you encounter online are really bad and will make mistakes for you. I play more ABC poker than most people would probably expect. I rarely run crazy bluffs or anything like that, unless I'm bored, feel like being a moron or have had a few adult beverages :)
No real question here, just wanted to say thanks for doing the AMA. I've been waiting to hear from a pro poker player for awhile now. Best of luck! Edit: Actually I lied! How do you/any pro players you know, feel about shows like Daniel's "million dollar challenge"? Do you think it hurts the image of poker at all, or helps? Thanks :) Of course, I'm really enjoying it :) Glad to see people are reading and also enjoying.
How did you get started in terms of bankroll nursing? At what point did you feel you could make a living off it? I literally started with $1 tournaments for quite a while and was able to grind it up to like $120 (back in the day on Paradise). I decide one day that taking half of my bank roll and playing a $30 rebuy would be a great idea (I do not recommend this lol). I ended up getting like 6th or 7th for a few thousand. I was in college at the time and a few k, makes you rich haha. About a week later, I final tabled the same tournament for a few thousand more and then started grinding the low low buy-in multis. Blessed with a little run good, here we are today.
It was basically about 6-8 months after those scores that I really started to think there was a possibility I could do it for a living. It was about 1 year after those tournaments that I really seriously began doing it full time.
Thanks! I'll keep grinding then :)). Are you going the the EPT grand final btw? Probably not hitting many of the EPT's this year. That flight from the States is always brutal. I'm enjoying traveling a little less this year. At least thats what I always say and then I end up traveling a ton lol.
Besides you, Daniel Negreanu is one of my favorite poker players. How is he to play against? Is there a person that you seem to either always have trouble with or have bad luck playing against? Well thank you :P Negreanu is definitely a tough player to play against. I think there a lot of other players that have equal the reading skills, but just choose not to vocalize it. It's the worst feeling in the world when someone pegs your hand exactly and lets you know.
There are definitely people that have basically owned my soul in the past. The funny part is its never a well known pro or anything like that. Its usually some guy or girl that seems to be absolutely clueless at the table. This has happened A LOT lol Nothing gets close to tilting more than when this happens. I usually just ask them if they just want me to give them the passwords to my bank accounts.
